The Introduction of 100G Optical Transceiver
In recent years, with the rapid growth of user demand for 40G and 100G optical module transmission links, cloud computing, mobile broadband and IPTV users have increasingly demanded bandwidth. 40G links have been deployed for several years. Today, 40G optical transceivers are ubiquitous in data centers. In the past two years, 100G optical transceivers have developed rapidly in the data center market due to the development of the optical industry centered on "100G network deployment". The 100G optical module transceiver types currently on the market are: QSFP28 optical tranceiver, CFP optical tranceiver, CFP2 optical tranceiver, CFP4 optical tranceiver and CXP optical tranceiver. 100G QSFP28 Fiber optical trasceiver Application
CXP Optical Transceiver
CXP optical transceiver has a transmission rate of up to 12 x 10Gbps and supports hot swap. “C” stands for 12 in hexadecimal, “X” stands for 10Gbps transmission rate per channel, and “P” means pluggable devices that support hot plugging. CXP optical module transceivers are mainly targeted at the high-speed computer market, and are a supplement to CFP optical transceiver in Ethernet data centers. Technically, CXP optical module transceivers are used for short-distance data transmission with parallel multimode fibers. 

100G CFP Optical Transceiver-
The CXP optical transceiver is 45mm long and 27mm wide, and is slightly larger than the XFP optical module. Built-in 12 transmission channels, each channel runs at 10Gb / s, the highest speed can reach 120G, which is mainly used to meet the high density requirements of data centers. It is usually used with parallel multi-mode fiber ribbons, and the transmission distance is up to 100 meters. 

CFP / CFP2 / CFP4 Optical Transceiver
100G CFP Optical Transceiver-
100G CFP optical transceiver, known as 100G client module transceiver, is a form-factor pluggable module that supports hot swap. The first generation of 100G CFP series optical transceiver is CFP optical transceiver, which are very large. Then CFP2 and CFP4 optical module transceivers appeared,CFP series optical transceivers are getting smaller and smaller. The volume of CFP2 is half that of CFP, and the volume of CFP4 optical transceiver is half that of CFP2. The package size is the same as that of QSFP + optical transceiver. CFP series optical modules all meet the requirements of 40G and 100G network transmission.The compact size of CFP4 optical transceiver is more suitable for high-density 100G Ethernet and OTN single-mode applications.

100G QSFP28 Optical Transceiver
Similarly, as a small 100G optical transceiver, the QSFP28 optical transceiver has also received more and more attention. As the name implies, QSFP28 optical module transceivers have the same design concept as QSFP optical transceivers. The first generation QSFP optical transceiver is equipped with four Tx and Rx ports, and the rate between each channel is 10 Gbps. For the QSFP28 optical module transceiver, each channel of the QSFP optical transceiver can send and receive data up to 28 Gbps. Compared with the CFP4 optical module, the QSFP28 optical module is only smaller than the CFP4 optical module. Although the QSFP28 optical module has a density advantage over the CFP4 optical module, the higher maximum power consumption of the CFP4 optical module makes it advantageous for longer distance optical transmission.
