ODF optical distribution frame is a high-density, high-capacity design product. The fiber distribution frame has the characteristics of beautiful appearance, reasonable distribution, easy search, easy management, convenient installation, and good operation. an ODF makes it easy to manage fiber optic connections, ensuring that signals are transmitted smoothly and minimizing any network downtime. UnitekFiber offers a variation of ODF optical fiber distribution frames, such us 24 cores, 36 cores, 48 cores, 72 cores, 96 cores and 288cores.
An optical distribution frame (ODF) is a frame used to provide cable interconnections between communication facilities, which can integrate fiber splicing, fiber termination, fiber optic adapters & connectors and cable connections together in a single unit. It can also work as a protective device to protect fiber optic connections from damage. More specifically, it is mainly used for fiber fusion splicing of the optical cable terminal, the installation of optical connectors, the deployment of optical paths, the storage of excess pigtails, and the protection of optical fibers. Hence, functions of fiber connection, termination, distribution, dispatch, and cable management are centralized in one apparatus. The fiber distribution frame is of significance for the safe operation and flexible deployment of the optical fiber networks.
The standard size ODF is typically 19 inch in dimension, allowing it to be installed either in a distribution cabinet or rack. The structural components of the ODF are meticulously crafted, and the fiber splice tray is constructed from flame retardant plastic material that is lightweight, flexible, and highly durable. The Optical Distribution Frame ODF features a drawer-type structure, which can be easily withdrawn after operations. ODF unit box includes a fiber optic cable entry hole at the rear and a fixing module for securing incoming fiber optic cable from the back side. The fiber splice trays are designed with upper and lower layers, making it simple to connect and operate pigtails and adapters. Additionally, the ODF is compatible with FC, SC, LC, and ST adapters and can accommodate ribbon and fan-out fiber optic cable.
The fiber distribution frame as the terminal equipment of the optical optic cable should have 4 basic functions:
Fixation and Protection of Optical Patch Cord: With optical patch cord introduction, fixing, and protection devices. The optical patch cord can be introduced and fixed on the rack to protect the fiber optic patch cord and the fiber core from damage.
Fiber Optic Connection Function: With an optical fiber termination device, it is convenient for the operation, construction, installation, and maintenance of optical fiber core and fiber optic pigtail connection. Protect the connector is straight and free of displacement, avoiding the influence of external force, and ensuring that the fiber core and fiber pigtail in the tray are not damaged.
Scheduling Function: The fiber optic patch cord and optical equipment can be connected through the connector to realize an optical path connection. It can efficiently schedule the fiber number in the optical patch cord and change the route sequence of the optical transmission system. The optical path can be adjusted and tested freely.
Fiber Optic Storage Function: Provide storage for various cross-connected optical patch cord or fiber optic pigtail between racks so they can be placed neatly and orderly. There should be a proper space and method in the fiber optic distribution frame so that the routing of this part of the optical jumper line is clear, easy to adjust, and can meet the minimum bending radius requirements.
