The 100G optic transceiver standard used for long-distance transmission is mainly 100GBASE-ER4. Its representative optic transceiver is 100G QSFP28-ER4, and its maximum transmission distance can go to 40km. The working principle of 100G QSFP28 ER4 optical transceiver is to convert 4x25Gbps electrical signals into 4 LAN WDM optical signals, and then use MUX or WDM to multiplex them into a single channel.
The HW QSFP-100G Compatible QSFP28 transceiver adopts 12 Fibers MTP/MPO connectors, reaching a link up to 150m over OM4 MMF (100m over OM3). This optical transceiver is compliant with QSFP28 MSA, IEEE 802.3ba 40GBASE-SR4 and breakout to 4x25GBASE-SR standard. Digital diagnostics functions are also available via the I2C interface, as specified by the QSFP+ MSA, to allow access to real-time operating parameters.
