The fiber optic terminal box provides protection against environmental factors like dust, moisture, and physical damage. Optical terminal box may have multiple ports or compartments to accommodate incoming and outgoing fiber optic cables. As the terminal equipment of the optical cable line, the optical fiber terminal box has four basic functions:
Fixing the Fiber Optic Cable - After the fiber optic cable enters the rack, the outer sheath and reinforcing core should be mechanically fixed, ground protection parts should be added, end protection treatment should be carried out, and the optical fiber could be grouped and protected by the fiber termination box.
Fusion Splicing Function - After fusion splicing of fiber optic cables and fiber pigtails, the excess fiber optic cables are coiled and stored, and the fusion splicing joints are protected.
Blending Function - The connector attached to the pigtail cable is plugged into the adapter and mated to the optical connector on the other side of the adapter to realize the optical path. The adapter and connector should be able to be inserted and removed flexibly; the optical path can be freely deployed and tested.
Storage function - Providing storage for a variety of cross-connections between the racks of optical connectors, so that they can be regular and neatly placed. Fiber splice box should have the appropriate space and way to make this part of the optical connection line clear, easy to adjust, and can meet the minimum bending radius requirements.
Fiber optic box often include various components to facilitate efficient fiber optic management. One important component is fiber optic splice trays, which provide a secure and organized environment for splicing fibers together to create connections. The fiber splice trays help protect the delicate splices and ensure their proper organization within the fiber optic box.
Additionally, fiber optic adapters are commonly used in fiber termination to connect individual fiber optic cables. These fiber optic adapters are typically mounted on fiber adapter panel, allowing for easy plug-and-play connectivity between the fiber optic cables.
In some cases, fiber optic terminal boxes may also incorporate fiber PLC splitters. The PLC fiber splitters are devices used to divide or split the optical signal into multiple paths. This enables the distribution of the signal to multiple end-users or devices, expanding the reach of the fiber optic network.
